The International Organization for Qumran Studies (IOQS) was founded in 1989 in Groningen, Netherlands and restructured in 2016. It connects scholars in the field of the Dead Sea Scrolls from all over the world and from any academic approach, methodology, or purpose.

Executive Committee

The IOQS Executive Committee consists of the President, a Secretary, and four at-large members.

Current Executive Committee (2022-2025):
President: Jutta Jokiranta, University of Helsinki
Secretary: Molly Zahn, Yale University

At-Large Members:
Daniel Falk, Penn State University
Charlotte Hempel, University of Birmingham
Esther Chazon, Orion Center and Hebrew University
Arjen Bakker, University of Groningen

Membership in the IOQS is obtained by presentation of a paper at an IOQS meeting, or can be granted by the Executive Committee at request. Interested scholars – including graduate students – should email the IOQS Secretary, [email protected].
